\"Breaking Bad\" is the eleventh episode of the sixth season of Better Call Saul, the spin-off television series of Breaking Bad. It was written and directed by Thomas Schnauz. The episode aired on AMC and AMC+ on August 1, 2022, before debuting online in certain territories on Netflix the following day. \"Breaking Bad\" depicts the life of Jimmy McGill, both during his time as lawyer \"Saul Goodman\" in Albuquerque, New Mexico; and after changing his identity to Gene Takavic and relocating to Omaha, Nebraska.
Bob Odenkirk and Jonathan Banks, who play Jimmy McGill and Mike Ehrmantraut, are the only cast members listed in the starring credits.[6] The audio team reused an audio snippet from the original Breaking Bad \"Better Call Saul\" episode where Goodman was gagged and altered it to convey it from his point of view. Cinematographer Marshall Adams sought to replicate Michael Slovis' work on Breaking Bad, and attempted to replicate his lighting and coloring.[4] \"Breaking Bad\" features the return of Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul as Walter White and Jesse Pinkman, the main characters of Breaking Bad. Their scene in \"Breaking Bad\" was the first of three scenes that they shot for Better Call Saul. It was filmed in April 2021, during the production of the sixth season's second episode, to accommodate their schedules.[7] Though both RV vehicles used during filming of Breaking Bad were still available, the one normally used for interior shots had been gutted, so the interior of the RV was recreated on a set. Set designer Ashley Marsh and her team worked from photos and stills from Breaking Bad to reacquire most of the equipment shown in the RV to detail, and even worked with the operator of an Albuquerque Breaking Bad tour to provide some of the RV curtains and fabrics.[8][9] Schnauz wrote their scene before finishing the rest of the episode's script.[3] Filming for the scene took a day and a half.[7] Cranston and Paul's appearances were treated with high secrecy, with both actors kept out of sight while in Albuquerque, similar to Cranston's cameo in El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie (2019).[10] They stayed in Albuquerque for four days at an Airbnb, with all wardrobe and makeup done in the home and only leaving to be taken on site to shoot.[11][12] The scenes set in Omaha are entirely in black and white.[13]
Production for season 6 was postponed due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions; filming officially began in March 2021.[1] The season consists of thirteen episodes, each running approximately 47 minutes in length. Vince Gilligan made a return to the creative team after being absent for seasons 3 to 5.
Walt and Jesse's scenes in Better Call Saul season 6, episode 11, \"Breaking Bad\" actually take place in Breaking Bad season 2, episode 8, \"Better Call Saul.\" Walt and Jesse's cameos are completely new scenes, a viewer can imagine them as what happened between the action of Breaking Bad season 2, episode 8. The bulk of the cameos take place entirely after the scene where Jesse and Walt take Saul to the desert, where he pleads for his life and says the infamous Lalo line. Better Call Saul season 6, episode 11 also adds some padding to their appearances, with the opening scene being new footage of Saul tied up in the back of their RV, teasing the cameos, and a cross-cut sequence at the end of the episode hinting that there's more Walt and Jesse to come.
While Better Call Saul season 6, episode 11 ends with Saul arriving at Walt's school, this doesn't mean that Walt will appear again. The Better Call Saul scene takes place minutes before the final scene of Breaking Bad season 2, episode 8, when Saul pitches to Walt why he would make a good partner, and informs Walt of all the information he finds out (courtesy of Mike). Nonetheless, if that's all audiences will get to see of Jesse and Walt, it was still worth the wait, especially since Better Call Saul manages to finally address the Lalo line once more.
Warning: this story contains spoilers for Better Call Saul Season 6 Part 2. Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) appeared for the first time on a Breaking Bad Season 2 episode titled \"Better Call Saul.\" In the sixth and final season of Better Call Saul, Walter White (Bryan Cranston) and Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) will appear on the spinoff series for the first time in an episode titled \"Breaking Bad,\" according to TV listings. Reads the synopsis for Better Call Saul's \"Breaking Bad\" episode, airing August 1 on AMC and AMC+: \"The partners escalate their enterprise to new levels.\"
Before the final season of Better Call Saul even started airing, we knew exactly one thing for certain: Walter White (Bryan Cranston) and Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) would appear. The only question that remained was when. In this week's episode, appropriately titled \"Breaking Bad,\" we finally got our answer. (Although, if you were online at all over the weekend, you might have already seen the news that Vince Gilligan confirmed their cameos would air this week.)
I am a Kim Wexler fan first and foremost, so I need to ask you: Is that Kim who Gene is talking to on the phone Thomas Schnauz: We don't know in this episode. We will know in a future episode what exactly he heard and was told on the phone call. And like you, I am a Kim Wexler fan, and Rhea Seehorn delighted in giving me crap that I didn't use her in the episode. She kept asking me, \"Why do you hate me\" Unfortunately, at this part of the story, we wanted to keep the mystery of what happened to Kim Wexler going.
When I spoke to Bob last week, he talked about Gene not being able to keep a handle on the Saul side of him. In this episode, it was interesting watching Gene descend back into the Saul persona at the same time as these Breaking Bad flashbacks were happening. Then, at the end, Saul goes to visit Walt at the high school at the same moment Gene is breaking into the house of the guy who has cancer. I'm curious about what went into creating those parallels. Schnauz: When we were talking about, all of us as fans of the previous show, wanting to see [Walter and Jesse], and why bring them back now They had to have a reason. I think [it came down to] highlighting the emotions that were going on then and now, as far as Saul needing to up his game and go even further and get something that's his own, which he thinks is Walter White. He's gonna go in and help this guy become this mound of clay. He's gonna mold it and shape it so that [Walter] can be a successful drug kingpin.
She drives away and notices that someone is likely following her, but as she keeps going, they break off pursuit, and she continues to her destination. Francesca arrives at a closed-down gas station in the middle of the desert, waiting for a phone call at one of the payphones. Just as she's about to leave, the call comes through, and it's Saul/Gene on the other end. They had arranged to have this call way back in season four when things had gone to hell and Saul was making his escape.
Drumroll, please...Walter White and Jesse Pinkman are back! In an episode called \"Breaking Bad,\" it only felt right to bring our favorite toxic, drug-dealing dynamic duo back into the fold. Jesse and Walt bring Saul back into the RV, where he asks about their whole operation.
Bob Odenkirk is of course also known for his large appearance in Breaking Bad. His character, Saul Goodman, first appeared in the eighth episode in season two and became a series regular from season three until the show's final season. Before Breaking Bad, Odenkirk starred in a few TV series, such as an eight-episode arc in How I Met Your Mother, and in supporting roles in movies like The Spectacular Now, Take Me Home Tonight, and Nebraska.
Odenkirk has been in Better Call Saul since the show's first episode in 2015. During the time he starred as Jimmy McGill, he has also starred in various other movies and shows. A few of those movies include roles in Nobody, Little Women (2019), Incredibles 2, The Post, and The Disaster Artist. Odenkirk is currently in another TV series entitled Undone, an Amazon Prime Video animated series that currently finished its second season this past April.
While Tony Dalton's Lalo Salamanca has only appeared in about half of the total number of episodes in Better Call Saul, his prominent storyline in the final season had us needing to include the actor on this list. Dalton has appeared in a handful of Mexican films and TV shows including Sr. Ávila where he played the main character, Roberto Ávila. His most recent role came in Marvel's Hawkeye where he played Jack Duquense.
When Better Call Saul starts, Saul's premonition has come true. Now operating under the name Gene, Heisenberg's former lawyer is actually the manager of a shopping mall Cinnabon, a flash-forward that's revisited at the start of every season, save for season 6. It became somewhat of a tradition for the show, that recent episodes paid off in dividends.
Season 6, Episode 11 features more connections to Breaking Bad than its title or a simple phone conversation with Francesca. The black-and-white timeline following Gene also mirrors behind-the-scenes events during Breaking Bad's second season episode that features Saul's introduction, aptly named \"Better Call Saul.\"
The final season of \"Better Call Saul\" accentuates this point best. The last few episodes of the series have given fans that long-awaited return to the \"Breaking Bad\" timeline, giving us a better look at Saul's mindset during that period. Most importantly, significant parallels are made in the \"Breaking Bad\" flashbacks and the Gene Takovic flash-forwards. One such similarity comes in season 6, episode 11, titled \"Breaking Bad.\" Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul make their triumphant return to the series in this episode, showing us the aftermath of their first meeting with Saul Goodman. This flashback and first meeting occur during season 2 of \"Breaking Bad,\" when Walt and Jesse are still cooking in the RV (endearingly called the crystal ship by Jesse). Their fledgling operation was struggling under the weight of inexperience. 59ce067264
