For these reasons we have uploaded Remote Desktop 8 for Mac right here to Macsx. The application has been taken from an older Mac which already had it installed, so no chance of malware. Simply click on the button below to download it:

Drive redirection is supported for remote resources, so that you can save files created with a remote application locally to your Mac. The redirected folder is always your home directory displayed as a network drive in the remote session.
By default, the remote session will use the same keyboard locale as the OS you're running the client on. (If your Mac is running an en-us OS, it will be used for the remote sessions as well.) If the OS keyboard locale is not used, check the keyboard setting on the remote PC and change it manually. See the Remote Desktop Client FAQ for more information about keyboards and locales.

My company requires VMWare View to access a remote windows desktop. Under Mac OS, VMWare View calls MSFT RDC to handle the screen interface. It is RDC that is the problem, not VMWare View, according to the crash logs.
Like other applications that haven't been re-written to support Retina, under Mountain Lion RDC is rendered with pixel-doubling, which means the best remote resolution you can get is 1440x900. It looks OK I guess, but if I then go into Bootcamp and RDP to another Windows 7 box, I get the full 2880x1800, and let me tell you it's a sight to behold!
I am remotely connecting to Windows Server 2012 Essentials. I haven't tried any other version of Windows on the server side, but I can say that in my case, I can connect just fine using the laptop right next to me running Windows 7 Pro, without incident.
