The Navigon 7200T comes in four different colors and costs $249.99. It also comes with a $99.99 lifetime subscription to Navigon's smartphone app that lets you store favorites, maps, and points of interest. It also offers a variety of widgets for your smartphone that automatically refresh with the most recent news, weather, and traffic conditions. There's also a Navigon 7200T GPS-compatible card, so you can use the Navigon on your computer.
As for battery life, the Navigon 7200T is rated for 10 hours of battery life, which is roughly half of the Nuvi 880's 14 hours. However, the Navigon is only 2.5 inches thick and weighs roughly 30 percent less than the Nuvi 880. So, despite the difference in battery life, it's easier to travel with the Navigon 7200T, though you should probably plan to charge it at night when the battery is depleted.
PerformanceThe Navigon 7200T is fast and accurate, but it's not as fast as the Nuvi 880. With our San Francisco test area, the Navigon took an average of 14.2 seconds to get a fix on our position. That's slightly faster than the Nuvi 880, which took an average of 14.9 seconds, but it's still slow compared to the GPS in a smartphone.
In addition to the voice-based address system, the Navigon 7200T is the first GPS we've seen with a built-in phone-like vibrating alert system. The alert system was fairly quiet, but we noticed it more than the Nuvi, which we'll attribute to the Navigon's smaller size. It vibrates in response to calls, texts, and emails, and it's somewhat useful for when you're driving and want to let someone know that you'll be running a little late.
Power: The 7200T is powered by two AAA batteries, which are included in the box. It will run for about 3 hours on one battery and up to 7 hours on two. To keep the cost down, the 7200T doesn't have a rechargeable battery, so if you've got a dead battery, you'll have to purchase AAA batteries separately.
